The Crisis Intervention & Response Team (CIRT)
-
To offer support to self-advocates experiencing a higher level of need in times of emotional and/or physical distress.
To promote individuals in developing safe self-expression, coping, and self-regulation skills.
-
CIRT offers After Hours Crisis Screening and Mobile Crisis Intervention to current Families First self-advocates.
Staff & Guardians are encouraged to reference resources provided to them when a crisis (not a medical emergency) arises.
-
There are two locations self-advocates may utilize in times of crisis. The 1st is the Therapeutic Flat at Wild Hopes Farm in rural Vermont. The 2nd is the Respite Space at University Way in Brattleboro, Vermont.
The Crisis Coordinator primarily decides when the use of these spaces is necessary. These spaces are not intended for regular respite or extended stays.
-
Families First offers Crisis Prevention Training to help staff better understand different types of behavioral support.
Other trainings offered include CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, and Special Care Procedures.
Families First also has an Employee Assistance Program that offers free counseling, advice, and resources for current employees.
Please email our Crisis Coordinator below if you are interested in Crisis Prevention Training or would like to know more about our Respite Spaces.
**Please note, this form is not intended for immediate Crisis concerns/emergencies or as a Respite option for current Home Providers.
